Part 2...The Museum

There are several of these sculptures outside the museum.  They are made completely of vines, by hand.  They are really cool.  They remind me of something the "Whos" in "Who ville" would live in.  The hallway leading to the children's museum regularly features local student's art.  Some of the pieces are REALLY good.  The one above was a wonderful pencil piece with lots of neat detail.  Albeit a little sad.  These little guys are just inside the children's museum.  They remind me of my kiddos.  Wild and colorful and strange. This is a collage of all used art materials.  This is what my home school room looks like at the end of every day...Just not as organized. There are computers to learn all about different aspects of art.  Have you noticed most of the pictures of this boy are the back of his head?  Or a hat covering his face?  The boy hates it when I take pictures of him.  He is going to be 30 and think he was  not as loved because I have less pictures of him than the other children. Imagine the therapy.  This is a neat balancing square that toggles back and forth until both sides are, well, balanced.  An important aspect of any art piece. There is a really neat room where the kids can jump around and their silhouettes are cast on a screen.  I have no clue how this works and there is nothing that explains it there.  I'll have to find out though.  This is the kids favorite room.  The colors and the screen changes.  Soo neat. The elusive Brandon strikes again.

And now, another round of moody preteen.  I am going to get through her teenage years by taking pictures every second of the way.  It makes it so much more fun.  Then, I'm going to make a collage poster and give it to her children so they can make fun of their mom.
Don't let her fool you.  She loves getting her picture taken.

Oh, look!  I got one and he is even kind of smiling.
Sort of.

I would have taken more pictures of the museum, but I was too busy embarrassing my kids.  Until the battery died.  Darn, I need to start carrying a back up.

Meet..........

Ambi Corazon.

Ambi for ambitious, (Thank you Arrow Sparrow....You are brilliant)  Corazon for heart.  Thanks Newbie from the Well Trained Mind..

You know, cuz he needs to have a lot of ambition to reach the "heights" of his goal.  Corazon, because, well, he has a heart on his head and he is heading for lots of loooooove.

I love his name.  Thank you for all the suggestions and help.  You all are much more creative than I.

Start thinkin up names for a pig....That one is next.

: )

Just Ducky..

We spent the day at the Blount Cultural Park.  It is one of our favorite places to go here.  There are a ton of ducks, geese, turtles and birds.  There is also an art museum and Shakespeare garden with flowers and herbs mentioned in his plays.  It is a restful, beautiful, and fun place to hang out in the middle of Montgomery.  We had a picnic then fed the ducks.

The boy eats a sub like corn on the cob. He takes little bites all along the side of the sandwich.
He is too funny.

This man was playing the Saxophone.  He was wonderful.  He played "When you wish upon a star,"  "Favorite Things," and several other soothing songs.  The boys favorite one was The Pink Panther theme, whatever that is called.

My son, the duck whisperer.
It was starting to look like Hitchcock's "The Birds"

They found some ducklings.
Don't worry, they were reunited with their mom.  Even though I really wanted to put them in my pocket.  They were so sweet.

I always miss Alaska when I see Canadian Geese.

This is a thatched-roofed pavilion where outdoor performances are held.

Part of the Shakespeare garden with names and quotes  about flowers from different plays.

I am in love with this rosemary hedge.  I have to learn how to grow Rosemary this bushy and big.  I can not tell you how heavenly it smelled.  The hedge was 3 feet tall and at least 10 feet long.  Beautiful!

We had such a nice time and really enjoyed the whole day.
Part 2 will be posted tomorrow.  A girl can only type so much!
Have a great day.

What a sweet end to a rough day.  This little monkey is a treasure.

Not a good day so far.

First I could not find the dentist office this morning and was twenty minutes late.

Then, I come home to two of my 1 week old chicks dead.  That just broke my heart.  We had a gas leak yesterday.  I'm not sure if that was the cause or something else.  Poor things.  Hopefully the day will get better from here.

New Babies and I need help!!

I went to a chicken auction last night.

I fell in love.

We had been looking for a buck to freshen up our does.  I had no luck until last night.
All the local bucks were the wrong breed or too big.  Until I met this little guy.

He melts my heart.  He is a small, beautiful, sweet, and affectionate little buck.  I think My does will love him.  They will fight over him.  They will have cute little babies and I will finally have some goat milk.  It benefits everyone.  How could they resist him?  If only, um, I can figure out how the "logistics" will work.  One should always breed a small  buck to a large doe.  But, um, how do I put this delicately........how will he *reach* his goal??  Maybe I should build a ramp, or a box or a platform?  Hmmmm.......suggestions?????

Well, I'm sure they will figure it out.  I am so thankful to have run into such a good deal on a sweet buck.  He was only...$35.00.  Can you believe that???  Also, I really, really need a name for him.  He has big beautiful brown eyes with mile-long eyelashes. Just like my sweet little boys.  He is sweet and loves cuddles.  He cries when you leave him.  I have no idea what to name  him.  Please, comment and tell me what you think.

We also picked up 10 Americanas.  These are the chickens that lay pink, blue and green eggs.  These chicks are only 1 week old.  I can not tell you how sweet and cuddly they are. We are all gooey over them.

I was meant to be a country girl.  It is in my blood, my bones, my very being.

I love my life.

Things I learned while doing yard work on Friday.

Grass does not grow where you want it to and it does grow where you don't.

Don't weed-eat ant hills.

No matter what you do, the weed eater will break or run out of string every two seconds.

Mosquitoes are relentless and evil.  Even after using 1/2 can of "OFF."

It does not matter how well-prepared I am, I still have to take 1,000 trips back to the barn for "one more thing"

Watch where you step.  Dog poop is even more disgusting when it is 90 outside.

Don't weed-eat a black widow's nest.

Don't adjust your garden sprinkler "just a smidge," it will never work right again.

The second you turn on the weed-eater, one of your children will desperately need something.

Bugs really like to fly in your nose and ears.

It takes 9 hours to groom 3 acres.

Some good things;

Sweating profusely is very good for your skin.

Carting around a weed-eater all day gives your biceps a great work out.

It makes you appreciate showers more than ever.

Your husband will think your amazing for all you hard work.

I'm trying to find the good everything.

No Respect..

I have ungrateful chickens.
One would think that providing warmth, shelter, food, water, and sweet cuddles would garner some reciprocation.  Gratefulness.  Thankfulness.  Warm fuzzies.  Not my little ingrates.

Especially this little ingrate ^
This little bugger has run at me, puffed out his chest and tried to peck my eyes out.
Two days in a row.  Okay, so he didn't try to peck my eyes out.  He did run at me, puff himself up and act like he wanted to peck my eyes out though.
I get no respect.
I actually think it is a rooster.  I *think* I have two roosters but I'm pretty sure this little guy is one.  I won't be able to tell for sure for a while yet.

This little one was the only sweet one out of the bunch.  The picture reminded me of P.W.'s picture of her horse,  L.B.   If you have no clue what I'm talking about click  here to see the picture.

I was playing around with back lighting subjects in my pictures this morning.  I really like how this one turned out. As far as the lighting and details.  Not the fact that it is a chicken's rump.

L.B. the chicken is getting the others to turn on me.  I just know it.  I feel like the farmer in Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type.

Just look at them plotting.
